FWIW, i "fixed" raidframe on 4K disks a few years back. i say "fixed" because of the way a lot of storage seems to work, it must continue to be accessed in 4K sector mode. i have a umass adapter that will export >2TB disks as 4K sectors, but they're really 512 byte internally, so when plugged directly, the data isn't available normally.
