I've long thought vnd(4) should be a "cloning" device to avoid the
inevitable search for unused, or assignment of explicit, device numbers.
Maybe this would all make a good GSoC project (e.g. to suggest to all
those who are otherwise eager to pick the seemingly singularly most
popular project).
