if u have a bootable version of the xp cd, u dont need
a boot floppy.

Hugh, XP's initial screens give you enough options to
partition disk and formating . but i usually prefer to
just create a primary partition from here and install
windows and partition/format the rest of the disk from
inside windows from the disk management module. it is
definitely faster and more intuitive, and the GUI
dosent hurt.

now, if u DONT have a bootable XP cd, (this can happen
coz u have one of the earlier pirated versions,)
instead of creating xp boot floppies (yes 4 floppies!)
i always use a 98 boot floppy to boot up and run
winnt.exe from the i386 folder of the xp cd.

the easiest way to create a 98 boot floppy, especially
if u dont have win98 on ur machine, is to go here
http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm and get the
utility that creates this floppy for u

good luck
Rakesh

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've
forgotten this before.
