Hard drives could be encrypted and they dont work at all if they find that
they are not the primary hard drive.  i.e. Only the boot loader in the hard
drive could decrypt contents in the harddrive till the os is loaded.  Even
if you emulate it, for reading anything more than a OS load, you need the
users password or his logged in status to proceed further.
