Hello,

gcj is now included in the long-awaited gcc 3.0. It can compile Java source
code directly to native machine code, and Most of the APIs specified by "The
Java Class Libraries" Second Edition and the "Java 2 Platform supplement" are
supported, including collections, networking, reflection, and serialization.
AWT and RMI are currently unsupported, but work to implement them is in
progress (cf. http://gcc.gnu.org/java/).
My question is : Is it possible to make a native machine code version of
Freenet ? If yes, we can make stand-alone windows installer and linux .rpm
files, because a Java Runtime Environment becomes unnecessary. It could be a
very great way to simplify the installation, isn't it ?

Regards, JSL.
