OK, I guess I didn't understand what you ment by "advertising".

BTW--100 is the absolute maximum most (all?) nodes will allow. Most clients default to 
inserting at 20-30 HTL.

Only if a new node is connected ONLY to another new node, and even then the request 
will work fine the moment it hits a not-so-new node. Yes, we are quite aware that 
long-running, well-connected nodes are better for finding things on Freenet, but 
things are not THAT horrible for new nodes.
