i had always envisioned anonnet being used w/ freenet for symmetric anonymity, tho i never thought of merging the software applications themselves, just creating hooks between them (i initially tried writing anonnet in java, but took up c after a few weeks, thinking i could write the client/user side pieces later). one of the problems w/ anonnet was deciding on whether to implement padding. i decided to try it, thinking that real-time (eg telnet) would work well enough over a slower, padded link, and large block transfers that coped w/ latency better could be spread over multiple links. i have to admit i haven't acquainted myself w/ freenet as much as i would like, but i had hoped (wished ;) the design decisions in anonnet would work well w/ freenet. early on i spoke w/ a fellow over at www.nymip.org who told me freenet was interested in an anonnet type layer, so it was always in the back of my head. _______________________________________________ freenet-tech mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.freenetproject.org/mailman/listinfo/tech
