Hi,
maybe some of the developers can comment on the current status of
anonimity properties provided by Freenet in the 0.4 version of the
protocol. The most current analysis of anonimity of Freenet I found on
the web is in the paper that I could find on the Freenet website
(icsi-revised).
What I'm particularily confused about, is that, although Freenet strives
to be a system that targets sender and receiver anonimity, does not
provide either according to the paper.
Especially the following paragraph confuses me:
'As Freenet communication is not directed towards specific receivers,
receiver anonymity is more accurately viewed as key anonymity, that is,
hiding the key which is being requested or inserted. Unfortunately,
since routing depends on knowledge of the key, key anonymity is not
possible in the basic Freenet scheme.'
So, in no way whatsoever, in the basic Freenet scheme, is receiver
anonimity provided by the system? Is the document outdated and the
protocol improved? Or where could should be done the work to improve
this situation?
Thanks for your views,
