EOF has been very quiet lately, yes.  However, I am currently working on some 
code that I hope will revitalize the project.  Some people want EOF to become 
more of a standards body (like the IETF) and not produce any code at all.  In 
any case, I suggest you head over there and start working out a formal 
standard for how this would all come together.
