I have signed us up to be a mentoring organization for the Google Summer of Code, which you can read more about here:
http://code.google.com/soc/ I'm still figuring this out, but it seems that we can submit ideas, and can select "mentors" from within the project, and then students can submit proposals to us, which we can accept or reject, and they then work on those proposals over the Summer with the help of the mentors. I think the organization gets $500 per student, and the student gets $4500. So, if anyone has ideas for self-contained Freenet-related projects, I guess you need to let me know (although I have not yet figured out how to submit these ideas to Google - there is probably an automated mechanism). And if anyone out there is a student and meets Google's criteria, check out the Summer of Code site and submit your ideas when the time comes. Ian.
