"Binary blobs" was the original proposal's name. What it is is a bunch
of node-level keys exported to the client for transport between
networks (insert your favourite site to a disconnected darknet), or for
verifiability (verify that a freenet update, or a revocation cert, really
is signed by the SSK it's supposed to be signed by; this is why binary
blobs are needed for update over mandatory).
