A friend asked me to look into whether YaCy is relevant to search on Freenet.
As I see it, the challenge we have is to create a search function that is
simultaneously:
- Reasonably fast (ideally really fast for e.g. hashtag searches)
- Scalable
- Spam resistant (possibly using a web of trust, and bearing in mind that
CAPTCHAs and hashcash are both problematic)
- Decentralised (ideally fully, but at least queries should be possible without
any central server; index creation can be centralised for now)
- Anonymous
- Ideally supports ranking and adjacent word searches etc. (Not relevant to
hashtag searches)

We can have a few of these attributes, but getting all of them together seems
to be something of a theoretical challenge...
