1) xterm is very configurable. Did you have a look at the manpage recently? I don't know two people with the same xterm settings in their .Xresources file. I don't think there are equivalents for bellIsUrgent, cursorOffTime, fastScroll, selectToClipboard, visualBell, etc. in st. 2) st doesn't allow to change the font/fonsize or shell without recompiling. This sucks for a terminal emulator in base - What fontsize is right? I use faceSize: 10 in xterm, but I think a lot of people will disagree. It doesn't make sense to force people to install the comp set just for adjusting the terminal font size. 3) st uses its own terminfo entry. Good luck trying to run an curses program on another box over ssh when the other box doesn't have st installed. 4) I never had problems with xterm - it just works. I've tried a lot of other terminal emulators myself, but always came back to xterm, because of availability, bugs, missing features or other reasons. cheers, natano
