Have DataDomain figured out that you don't want to compress compressed data yet? We've tried them a few times over the years, but since a lot of our data is compressed, we get -2.5 compression (1TB becomes 2.5TB on the DataDomain box). We've had reasonable good results with NetApp's deduplication. For VMware/Windows data, it is a huge win (80+% savings), for engineering data, we're seeing about 20% savings.
