Thanks for the feedback everyone. (People have been replying off-list. I'm
not sure why replying off-list. Shy? Stage fright?) Anyway...

In some quick looking around, I see infiniband cards, 2x-4x faster than 10G
ether (that is, 20-40Gbit) and 100x lower latency than 10G ether, for around
the same price as 10G ether. While that sounds immediately attractive, the
solution that would be more attractive would be a cheaper card. Say ...
8Gbit for $100.

Where do folks buy their IB hardware? It seems to be sort of "specialty,"
not available with great selection in huge mainstream vendors.

Is there anything you need to know, in order to use it for the first time?
For example, first time you used scsi, you needed to know about scsi id's
and terminators. Can you simply buy 2 IB cards, and connect one system to
the other via a cable? Do you require a switch in between?

Anybody using IB with vmware? In my present knowledge, the storage under
vmware needs to be locally attached disks, or iscsi, or nfs. I'm not quite
sure how IB fits into the picture. So this is clearly beyond my present
knowledge.

Thanks...
