This tool is impressive, I've got a complex network (197 firewalls with 853 interfaces and 1892 IP addresses across 135 networks) and it was able to create a network diagram of it.

It creates .svg files _much_ faster and will less memory than .png files.

most of the features that are documented for blockdiag will work with all the other tools.

This is super-cool.  I've been looking for something like this.

nwdiag will generate a network diagram from a text input:

http://blockdiag.com/en/nwdiag/index.html

It used to be it was such a pain and so time consuming to edit our network
diagram that I'd batch up the updates and do it once a year...  which
meant
that it was out of date most of the time.

(I was doing it in Visio it first and then in Dia.)

Now all I have to do to add a new server is add a line of text to the
appropriate
network in the nwdiag DOT-like source file (looks like nwdiag is based
on GraphViz),
and nwdiag will draw in the box, and correctly connect the box to the
right network,
and label the server name and the IP address -- taking care of all the
fiddly little
details for me.

I love it!

The author is friendly, helpful and quick to respond.  Win.
