Thanks. I did a search Google but wanted to see if anyone on the list
was using something. I am not adverse to paying for something as long as
it is cheap enough and works. I will check these out. The last one
sounds promising. At least you can try before you cry.. I mean buy.

A Google search for "windows biff" had this early hit:

which includes this promising lead:

  http://www.emtec.com/mailbell/ 

(I've never used it, but the description seems to fit your needs.)

Could you just use a standard MUA configured to check multiple
accounts
and use its standard method for notification of new messages?
