Hi lopsa-tech,

Let's say you have 2-10 folks spread out over the US who need to be
able to access files from a central location on an as-needed basis.
The files contain personally identifiable information, so I would feel
better if they had some form of strong encryption to be stored
off-site. The off-site part makes me nervous. A few companies
(SpiderOak and Oxygen come to mind) seem to offer some form of
zero-knowledge encryption for files stored remotely, but only for one
user -- sharing files with different people seems to get messy.

Alternatively, I was considering getting a dedicated Windows server
behind a VPN device that would allow authorized users to tunnel to an
encrypted Windows file share. That remote server could potentially
also serve as an AD server for those 2-10 folks.

So, two questions for anyone who may have encountered this before:
- Does anyone have experience with a service that caters to this kind of need?
- Is my alternate idea A Terrible Idea(tm)?

Thanks in advance.
