In my last position we used it for essentially business process automation aka cron jobs I cared about the output of. I hate cron spam and love dashboards. Moving things like kicking off backups, puppet code deploys, disk quota auditing all went into jenkins. If it was red, I fixed it and had all the logs of what was going on right there.
