As it heats up, it may fail again. Back up the most critical files first, then try to do a full copy of the disk; that way even if the full backup fails you've got the most critical files. We once ran a drive inside a dorm fridge at the ISP I worked at to be able to recover data off of it. Anyway I kicked off the backup and had a heart attack when it said it would take over a day to do the back up. I don't have the best backup system in my office. I will though after this mess up.
