Short of writing something to parse the pipermail archives directly and pull that data out, I don't think it can do what you want to do. It doesn't maintain a "database" or anything like that. Another (easier) option might be to set up an address on the list that points to a script which does nothing more than extract the subject and keeps track of the last "N" subjects, making that data available for whatever drupal modules can make use of it.
