Interesting product, but Doug's comments turn me off.

You're absolutely right.  So the smallest, lightest IP based KVM with
a VNC server inside it, not a proprietary Windows clients, would be my
choice.  I can easily setup a private IP address from the laptop, or
put it on the LAN if need be.

Thanks for the pointers, I'll be looking into them more closely.
