We have a Spectralogic T50 as well as a T50e library. They seem pretty
solid, though it's annoying that they changed the tape load loading
interface between these two models. I believe we flash power on the
T50 once every month or so when an NDMP backup hangs and leaves things
in a funny state. We the T50 hooked up directly to our NetApp whereas
the other T50e is directly attached to our backup server. We're not
sure if we're having to flash power of T50 more than T50e because of
the direct attached NDMP backups, or because of differences between
the models, but at first glance it does seem like we're having to
babysit the T50 more than the other. Personally I like the physical
interface to load / unload tapes on the T50 more than T50e, but both
work.

We've used both Spectralogic certified media (Which comes in nice
spiffy magazines that don't fit in these libraries) and costs extra
(though has lifetime warranty) and plain Sony LTO4 tapes with custom
barcodes and both have worked fine (though we've noticed the 2
libraries read the barcodes slightly differently so CommVault doesn't
realize that some tapes are already in use in the other library. Sigh).

We've worked with Spectralogic for a number of years and their support
has been pretty good. We're pretty happy with them and would buy more
if we needed them.
