We've been using the FusionIO SSD cards (not drives) for a while now. Let me tell you a story about their performance. :-)
Our normal means of cloning a new database server for our farm is to build up the OS, take a copy of the database from the last backup, change the server ID in my.cnf, and fire it up. Depending on how far "behind" it is starting from (eg., how much the master has progressed since the backup was taken), the process of catching up would take anywhere from 8 to 10 hours. To test our FusionIO cards, we started out by building two new DB servers, one with MySQL on the SSD, and one with it on our usual storage. After hitting "enter" on the slave start command simultaneously, the disk-based unit took about nine hours to catch up. The FusionIO equipped unit did it in 4.5 minutes. Minutes. So, yeah, we're sold. :-) Cheers, D _______________________________________________ Tech mailing list [email protected] http://lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tech This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
