Hi, Ski, Since there's data corruption and the exact extent is unknown, and I'd play it safe and start over with a new OS install + app/data load. "it's the only way to be sure" :-)
Get the CD's for Solaris 8 - I am sure you can get them from another sys admin or user group or from Sun - maybe even by download from Sun? and re-install.
