I know they have USB pass-through on many other virtualization products . They don't do this on ESXi?
I've done it on VMWare Workstation, Fusion, Parallels, VirtualBox . but I guess these are all desktop products, and I never tried it on ESXi or XenServer. I have had many issues with Dongles interfering with things (such as remote reboots and depending on the rack, messing with the door to the rack, etc...). I also just don't like software vendors using my USB slots. ;) I have always pushed for a license file from the company and as long as I was willing to bind it to a MAC address have yet to be refused. *Knock on wood* Have you spoken with a tech from the software company? I would avoid the dongle at all costs but, that's just me. (My VM infrastructure runs on ESXi 4.) Given that it's a VM I can't simply plug the USB dongle in. The only solution I've found to this issue is is AnywhereUSB from Digi (http://www.digi.com/products/usb/anywhereusb.jsp). Anyone have any experience with this product? Any other options people have used or seen? Thanks. -- Thanks Jefferson Cowart [email protected] _______________________________________________ Tech mailing list [email protected] http://lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tech This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
