Has anyone seen a SATA error of a device in a RAID1 md setup (+lvm on
that) send a server off into the weeds?

Better description:

Linux Centos 5.3 (yeah, I know) 2.6.18-128.el5 kernel.
2 drives in a RAID1 md setup with LVM on top of that.
Running an active mysql instance.

Load is typically around 1 (dual 5405), but after the event, it jumps to
10 in a couple of mintues, and while the network sockets pick up, the
system stops responding even to existing connections.

I've looked through the kernel changelogs, and the most recent rpm
changelogs, various google searches (under the kernel and mdadm though I
didn't think that impacted normal operations), and the best I've found is

http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg09024.html

but it seems to have gone nowhere.

Thoughts? or suggestions on who to bug (trolling the centos lists or the
kernel lists don't seem like a good idea given the age of the kernel).

Thanks,
