 Nope they cannot overwrite a new one. But it is not much of a problem in
my case, since, if a tranfer fails i get nottified by email, and i can go
and manually delete the file.

  The problem i'm trying to solve, is that since this is a backup server
(as i might say an ad-hoc setup, for a quick solution), it can be a
problem if a machine get compromised, and someone just using the ftp
account goes and deletes all the backup files from the "backup server".
  This patch I believe can be useful if someone wants to have something
like an archive server, that everything that is uploaded there, stays
there (at least it can't be deleted from the ftp account).

 Well since it can be a good discussion, i'm answering the questions, more
of like thinking loudly.
