Pretty standard thing in several companies I do work for is to have an intranet page with http://, ssh://, telnet:// and finger:// (amazingly) links to various devices on the network. Having to read the source and escape to a shell would be somewhat worse than what I get on a base install today. IIRC, finger was how we got a quick status overview from... some piece of ATM switching gear?
