Both seem correct to me, both regarding the wording and the content, so i don't see much point in changing it. Besides, in v7, assert() worked slightly differently than it does today. It didn't call abort() - which did already exist - but just fprintf() and exit(). So maybe "an" is even more precise than "the". By the way, i just grepped v6 for "assert" and came up empty-handed. Anybody knows whether the statement is even correct? Didn't it rather first appear in v7? Yours, Ingo
