now i am (more confused). before i wrote that mail i found that "auto" worked, presumed it an alias, meant to mention it, then clean forgot (i was dashing). i was sure i had tried "automatic". doh. i must be getting confused with the apm docs, which use "automatic". anyway i'll update the diff. jmc
