Some used it on amd64 for a while to avoid checkout failures due to running into memory limits, but then I tracked it down and increased the limit in CVSROOT/options to get around this. Switching between cvs and opencvs upstreams without making a fresh checkout caused some problems so it's better if mirrors all just use cvs.
