I looked briefly at this and it wouldn't be that hard. However, while it would be fantastic to clean up all the crap from less, it isn't clear if Garrett D'Amore is going to be keeping his fork up to date - if he doesn't then we are then left with a much harder job to merge later changes from the original less. Unless we are happy to fork and maintain less ourselves without an upstream. IIRC our local changes are not huge and it is pretty easy to see them in the diff (strlcpy, SMALL, less_is_more, a few other bits).
