There have been big changes to the network/routing stack since 5.8 - at least two hackathons with significant focus on this area. Neither 5.8 nor 5.8-stable are enough. It could be fixed already. Or it could have different behaviour. If not, here is very little chance it will be fixed for 5.9 unless someone seeing a problem gets in a good bug report on -current.
