My thinking is that preventing stuff like
$ man xdm
man: No entry for xdm in the manual.
where possible is probably a good thing.
Given the choice, why not reference the thing documented within the system?
Especially when it's a neutral thing, as you point out, like providing an
example of such a piece of software.
