I believe I saw a mention of 6.1 scheduling or I/O being a work in
progress, so this post is simply informational and if you wish me to run
any tests then I can. Otherwise this is not a problem right now though
it has made the daily internal backup into a weekly one.
I am using an old fanless P2 400mhz as it has no Intel management mode
and I like schg e.g. on the root of chroots (admittedly I have been
tempted to upgrade but the reliability of an overnight backup HDD have
desuaded me so far, as any modern fanless system I have is a single
drive machine).
However I guess this meagre cpu has highlighted a performance
degradation in 6.1? Copying between two bioctl encrypted disks is very
slow. I figured, wow, I really need to find the time to get a better
CPU/machine.
However, I have since noticed that an rsync cron job scheduled for early
hours and one that I would not notice existed on 6.0 is now running into
the working day at maximised cpu (albeit, niced to 20).
It's Dmesg follows as perhaps some missing CPU instruction is to blame
as I see few if any screams on the list. I don't mind if the answer is
upgrade the hardware but figured the info may be of use and I shall
wait to upgrade a while in case any tests would help.
