I have an older HP ProBook 645 G1 with "ATI Radeon HD 7520G", never used
with OpenBSD due to missing brightness and keys. After this message, I
found some time over Xmas to give it a shot. I hope it is ok to answer
late to the original post.
I couldn't fix the brightness control... If there is a hint were to look
at, I'd want to dig deeper.

My observations with 6.6 is indifferent xbacklight response, same with
"release" and "current". Before actually starting OpenBSD, still at the
boot prompt, display brightness can be changed with FN-F9 and FN-F10
keys. Once kernel is booted, no function on these keys. Immedeatly after
login into xenodm, and starting xterm, xbacklight behaves like this:

After install snapshot and cvs updates, there is still no keyboard
control over brightness. Observations with xrandr and xbacklight remain
as above... I added the printf DEBUG statements and recompiled - in the
dmesg below.
I understand the radeon card is a "Trinity" APU, based on the
architecture of the Radeon HD 6900 series, without dedicated graphics
memory.
