I’m interested in porting OpenBSD to the Nuvoton NUC980, which uses an ARM926EJ-S core. I discovered that arm9 support was removed in 2016 and found the relevant patches in tech@. It seems that the rationale was that arm8/9 platforms were not being used with OpenBSD and were therefore a source of dead code.
I am strongly motivated to help bring back enough arm9 support to get the NUC980 chip going and deploy it onto the Nuvoton Chili eval board. This is an extremely compact 100Mbit Ethernet-capable board running at 300 MHz and is perfect for IoT devices and compact servers. It would be very helpful to have guidance from more experienced developers here. Is anyone interested in working with me to bring back support? I am happy to ship hardware to anyone who is interested. Thanks, -p
