Hmm. Like you try to select it from the list and it does not accept it as  an account? Have you recently deleted then re-created an account with the same  name? This is a global account correct?

I am attempting to identify it as the account necessary, that is where I am getting my error, it won’t let me use it.

Is the account you created marked as the account to be used for the directory replication service?

I’m attempting to startup directory replication on Win NT 4.0 (I know, it’s archaic), when following administration tech lab book, it states to create a repl account and use it to access the repl directories.  We have followed the directions to the letter, but when we go in to set up the replication start up procedures, we keep getting an Error 1057-Account name invalid or does not exist.  Any thoughts????  There will be more questions coming, I’m sure.
