Hello I think that pango-graphite should be SRUd into Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid in order to fix Bug #540035: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pango-graphite/+bug/540035
The update would fix a rather severe bug which makes it impossible to login to Ubuntu if pango-graphite is installed in combination with some ttf-sil-* fonts (e.g. ttf-sil-doulos): Since I'm unsure, I'd like to know what you think is the best way to go about fixing this, or if it would qualify for SRU at all? Upstream has made a new release which fixes this bug, and is a small diff code-wise. I don't know if the upstream code changes contains more than what is necessary to address the bug, hence I'm going by the assumption that all those changes would need to be incorporated in the SRU. Because of this, I think it would make sense to include the whole new upstream release in the SRU, since it would be more obvious if the version number, etc. matched the current code. These extra bits would be a version bump in autotools (with regeneration) and capitalisation fixes in the documentation. Alternatively it would work to only grab the code changes as a patch, and skip the rest, possibly this would better fit SRU policy... Debian stable carries the exact code this change would result in (whereas later versions of Ubuntu & Debian carries additional patches on top), so presumably it is reasonably tested. The full upstream diff and the reduced version containing only the code changes are attached to the bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pango-graphite/+bug/540035/+attachment/3201822/+files/pango-graphite-0.9.2-to-0.9.3.diff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pango-graphite/+bug/540035/+attachment/1424192/+files/u01_crasher-fix.patch Thanks. -- Martin Erik Werner <[email protected]>
