After discussing this with the core team, we would like to formally
request 3-year LTS requalification for Kubuntu. Below is an outline of
our support plan:

The point of contact list is as follows:
Scarlett Moore [email protected]
Rik Mills [email protected]
Rick Timmis [email protected]

Team expertise: Rik Mills, our team lead, is a core Ubuntu developer
with many years of experience and a strong track record. I am a core
KDE developer, backed by the broader KDE community, and we are
committed to delivering bug fixes throughout the full 3-year period.
Package maintenance: Our core team will maintain all KDE and
dependency packages in the Ubuntu archive for the duration of the
proposed LTS cycle.
Infrastructure readiness: Kubuntu 26.04 components in Launchpad will
be branched next week, ensuring we are well-positioned to backport
fixes as needed.
Commercial backing: The KFocus team, whose hardware is purpose-built
around Kubuntu, have a direct commercial interest in the long-term
stability and quality of the distribution. As a laptop vendor that
ships Kubuntu as their primary desktop environment, they are actively
involved in development and bug fixes, giving us an additional layer
of committed, real-world testing and support.
Proven reliability: We have a consistent history of successfully
maintaining our releases and are fully committed to upholding that
standard going forward.
We hope this demonstrates that Kubuntu is well-equipped to meet the
requirements for a 3-year LTS. Please don't hesitate to reach out if
you have any further questions.
Best regards,
Scarlett
