There is indeed a 64-bit version of windows xp. I have both the 32- bit and the 64-bit version. The problem is: Most things (such as drivers for hardware, and screen readers) don't support the 64-bit version of windows xp. Jaws, window eyes, and system access 32 do not support the 64-bit version of xp, though there is one that does, though I don't remember which one it is. I had the 64-bit version of xp installed for a while, and had to remove it, due to lack of drivers and screen reader support.

And, yes, there are different activation keys for the 32 and 64-bit versions of xp.
