I had to be very careful with the subject line above, nearly wrote "Radio Cassette Recorder" <smile>, old habits don't die.
I now am a proud owner of a Sangean PDR8 Radio Recorder and that's exactly what it is, think of a Radio Cassette Recorder but in the place of the cassette recorder the user finds a SD card slot. The radio records in MP3 format and the bit rate can be toggled between 64-128K though I would suggest that if your recording AM broadcasts then this setting won't make all that much difference <smile>. the radio is AM/FM and has the excellent sensitivity and selectivity traits well known to users of Sangean radio equipment. The radio boasts some really nice and convenient features so here's a few to wet your appetite. • Record timer • Sleep timer with wake up alarm to buzzer or radio and snooze function • built-in microphone for voice recordings • Line-in jack for connection of a CD player etc, recording can be made from the lin-in jack • Playback of MP3/WMA encoded files. • Handles SD cards up to 64GB in testing. •Capable of supporting various battery types including Alkaline and Rechargeables, radio contains built-in charger. Now it would seem that these radio sets are hard to get and they're certainly not imported into Australia as far as I know, I had to order mine from the U.S. and it appears that the PDR8 is a discontinued model which is a shame. ======================================= The Techno-Chat E-Mail forum is guaranteed malware, spyware, Trojan, virus and worm-free To modify your subscription options, please visit for forum's dedicated web pages located at http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/techno-chat You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Techno-Chat group at either of the following websites: http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/techno-chat/index.html Or: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]> you may also subscribe to this list via RSS.
