Hello Travis Gordon has concluded the same thing and just as soon as he's able he plans to see if we can't do this on our own servers. We're pretty annoyed about our domain being hijacked, but there we are.

And, also why I don't use prehosted blog sites. You can install wordpress anywhere, it doesn't have to be on their servers, and you can handle your own domains, no reason to pay anyone to hand over a packaged deal for (likely) more money than it takes to do it yourself. I realize these folks fill a nich, (a rather profitable one if they are to be believed) but I personally wouldn't use such services, unless I was out of options all across the board. If they own the domain, nothing you can do. if someone else registered it in the meantime, (again) nothing you can do. If it got renewed, and is just waiting for you to reclaim it, then that's probably the only way you'll get it back. (whois is your friend) check the whois record, and see who it's registered to, then you'll know which of the above scenarios *might* apply. I always recomend to folks to handle their own domain registration, specifically to avoid such issues as this one, I can't tell you how many times folks have had domains stolen out from under them because some company insisted on registering the domain for them, then mishandled it afterowrds, or claimed it after the term was up, or any number of other things I've heard horror stories about. It's possible though, that in this case, nothing has been done with it, and it's simply sitting in limbo waiting to be returned to the pool (ome registrars hold on to them longer than others) and a quick email to support will gather it up for you again, and all will be fine. That does happen from time to time, but from where I'm sitting, that's only a small minority of cases. Good luck with the domain and the blog. ======================================= The Techno-Chat E-Mail forum is guaranteed malware, spyware, Trojan, virus and worm-free To modify your subscription options, please visit for forum's dedicated web pages located at http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/techno-chat You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Techno-Chat group at either of the following websites: http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/techno-chat/index.html Or: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]> you may also subscribe to this list via RSS.
