Hi!

As some of you will be aware I've had one of these "Treasureboxes" as I like to
call the Fritzbox 7390 since early February and every time I play with the HTML
interface of the device I come away amazed and overoared! at what the
developers have done and are doing with this piece of equipment.

For those who don't know the Fritzbox 7390 is a fully equipped network wouter,
with ADSL 2 modem and fully functional VOIP phone facility.

Added to that the box contains a DECT base station so you can add cordless
phone handsets tho it and configure them yourself handset by handset through
the excellent accessible HTML Interface.

So on with my story, I decided to set up some "Dialling Rules" for the 2
"Fritzphone" handsets I have connected to my Fritzbox.

Up until now I'd been using a Cisco SPA-3021 VOIP adapter and believe me!
setting up "Dialling Rules" was no mean feat as you had to know the syntax
exactly of every line for every rule.

Thankfully the Fritzbox doesn't work like that, the user just follows a wizard
to complete the rule.

For example suppose you want all calls starting with the prefix "13" to be
dialled using the PSTN line from a cordless handset you've named "Lounge", all
the user need do is to go into "Dialling Rules", select the Handset you wish to
create the rule for, select dialling prefix or suffix and then type in the
numbers and that's all there is to the procedure.

There are other types of "Dialling Rules" I haven't had a chance to play with
yet called Number Blocks.

I love the way the Fritzbox manages calls, each and every missed, incoming and
outgoing call is recorded in a perfectly accessible table and from here you can
add the numbers associated with who's called to your telephone book which again
is perfectly accessible and easily manipulated, I even found a function which
allows you to have the Fritzbox "Dial" the number you have highlighted in the
table so you just press the "Dial" button in your browser and pick up your
handset or connected telephone, neat!

Next I'm going to tackle the built-in media servier of the Fritzbox, it is
supposed to manage the access of externally connected drives or its own 512MB
of RAM.
