Hello everybody

I have just ordered Gordon a pair of "iGlasses" and wondered whether anybody
might be interested in his comments on them once he gets them. iGlasses are a
secondary mobility aid, designed to be used in conjunction with a white cane or
a guide dog. They are an ultrasonic device which vibrates against the skin when
an object is detected in your path as you walk. They can detect objects from a
distance of around 3 meters, (10 feet), and the vibration intensity increases
as you move closer to the object. The device can be adjusted to suit different
environments, and also can be adjusted for your comfort.

They use a rechargeable battery, come supplied with an AC charger and also
there is a USB option. The average battery life is quoted as 10 hours of
continuous vibration which, of course, is not a realistic situation. But the
point is that the battery life will be very good since most of the time the
device will be quiet.

The glasses are warn just like a normal pair of spectacles which those with
vision often ware, and can be bought with either clear or tinted lenses. Tinted
lenses are typically used for sun glasses and I should also mention that the
iGlasses have UV400 protection built in so they do actually serve a dual
purpose. The glasses look really nice and are supplied in a durable black
frame. There is a convenient recessed on/of button on the side of the glasses
and the level of vibration can be adjusted to suit your own needs.

I ordered a pair of these for Gordon just a few hours ago, so he should get
them next week. As I say if anybody is interested in his findings, I am sure he
will be happy to share them with you.

Lynne
