Hi all

With the exception of Dane, does anybody else on list who might happen to be
reasonably expected to be around during the European/US daytime, happen to use,
or have some experience in the use of, Exact Audio Copy for Windows? I mean no
offence towards Dane, I'm simply trying to be fair because unless he's a night
owl, he won't be around.

Anyway, I am trying to remember how I used to have this thing configured to
produce the albums in the formats I want them. I also want to try and do some
comparisons between Exact Audio Copy and XLD for Mac. Both have their distinct
advantages and, probably, disadvantages too. But I am trying to figure out /
remember what I used to change to get this working the way I want it.

I'm looking to have albums formatted as single compressed FLAC files with cue
sheets. I think that's probably going to be the most efficient way I can store
lossless albums again . Also, we already have a large collection of material
stored in this way so it would be the most consistent method.

XLD for Mac is a very excellent piece of software in most respects. Where it
falls down very badly in my opinion is its inability to batch edit multiple
tracks metadata. This is something which you can accomplish with Exact Audio
Copy for Windows and, assuming that there are no other issues which would slow
down Exact Audio Copy, it would probably be the most efficient method I have
currently of producing the kind of content I want. Unfortunately, or
fortunately, (depending upon your point of view), I am really fussy regarding
accuracy of all metadata fields. It's taking an age, in view of that fact,
using XLD to produce my albums. Now, I have considered just ripping the albums
as they are and then manually editing the cue sheets with a text editor. That
is indeed a possibility. However, I would prefer not to do this because it
means that editing would have to be done all over again later when ripping the
same albums into a different format.

So, I am leaning towards using Exact Audio copy in order to make this
processing task more efficient, quicker and less tedious. Does anybody have
any recommendations regarding what I should look at changing from the Exact
Audio Copy defaults? If Dane happens to be around and if he is able/willing to
answer those questions that'd be great. but I need to get this job done fast,
as I'm already going to have to repeat the process to accommodate OTS AV DJ Pro
Classic which uses its own proprietary format by default, and that's how you
get the best results.
