Hi Roger Well, we want to do this properly so we are taking care with the construction of the site and the project. But I am at an advanced stage and hope to be able to tell you more soon. I also hope to be able to release some audio content soon so that people can see the kind of quality we offer. Incidentally, if anybody happens to be a listener of Internet radio, what format would you prefer, MP3 or AAC+? I'm sure Winamp and Windows Media Player both support AAC+ so I think that's most likely the way we will go unless there are major reasons not too. That does not impact on the format of the source material. That referred to the output format only. The encoding is handled by the streamer and the server.

I'm not quite sure how someone might have come to the conclusion that this was a way for you to generate finance unless the thinking was that some kind of Digital Rights Management would be involved. It's ROFL time! Regards, Roger. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Gordon Smith Sent: 28 December 2012 08:54 To: Techno-Chat ... Technology Enthusiasm! Subject: Sparkle Radio, Broadcasting Info Hi all As Lynne mentioned earlier in the week, we are now working hard on a Sparkle Radio solution which is intended to be a "Fun for all" project for visually impaired people particularly, but that doesn't mean you have to have a sight impairment to join in the fun. But what's more, we are not restricting the activities of Sparkle Radio to music only. We are more than happy to broadcast other things as well. For instance, if you wish to provide audio reviews and demos, anything like that, we are more than happy to give you air time. We really want this thing to work and we are doing our very best to make it happen. We are preparing a website with broadcaster tutorials and, to simplify things, we ar also making available the free broadcaster tools for Mac and PC which we think might help. All of the downloads will be together in the one place so there's no need to go hunting for them. If you're interested, would you please let us know off list. Also, if you wouldn't mind spreading the word, we'd be grateful. Now, I want to squash one accusation which was made yesterday in a private message to Lynne. This project is absolutely not aimed at generating any form of income for us. We are doing it purely for fun. There is absolutely no financial gain by us. In fact, we have invested quite heavily in the project. You need much more than a DSL Internet tariff to sustain multiple listeners. Our server can cope with up to 500 listeners at a time and we plan to upgrade that soon so that we can handle up to 1000 listeners. The cloud will be used to broadcast pre-programmed material when there is no presenter broadcasting live. So we are aiming to make this a full blown 24/7/365 project in the very near future. We will probably arrange it so that any articles we receive are broadcast either in a playlist or randomly. But again, I stress that there is absolutely no financial motivation here, more will we be asking for any financial contribution of any kind. Again, if you're interested in having a bit of fun and sharing your work, we welcome your input very much. You know where to reach us: [email protected] or [email protected] will find us. We will soon be implementing mail services for the Sparkle Radio project and anybody is welcome to an E-Mail account under that domain if they wish.
