Hello, My daughter is planning to spend 3 months cycling the USA East Coast Greenway from New York to Florida. As she will be on her own we are keen to have some way to track where she is and to give her quick and easy access to emergency services. The options in ascending cost order are an Ap for her Android phone, a GPS personal tracking device which communicates via SMS messaging on the mobile phone network, and a personal GPS tracking device which communicates via a satellite link. It thus all depends on how good the mobile phone network is in the more rural parts of the USA East Coast Greenway. There is no problem in the UK but the USA is much bigger!
My daughter will probably buy a USA SIM card. Which is her best choice of network for the most widespread rural coverage? Do any of you have experience of using personal GPS trackers? Many thanks.
