I know what you're getting at, its a very problematic area from the experience 
I've had with this stuff and the software/hardware thing is more of a hobby and 
inthuiast thing at the moment but I'll tell you what I know.

If you want RDS/DAB/DAB+ text displayed on your computer then your best bet is 
to fiddle around with software solutions and LYNUX and the hardware part is 
usually the easy bit.

The $20.00 USB tuner stick is enough to get you started because the band width 
or coverage is so large, although they don't say so these things cover the 
range of 100KHZ up to around 4GHZ so you have the receiver and the processing 
power all in place, now all you need is the software to decode the signals.

I've had some success with various TV Tuner cards and DAB+ using Windows Media 
Center, I'm using 1 of the Leadtek Dual Tuner cards without any problems though 
I did have to install some drivers for Windows Media Center to recognise the 
card and the various facilities the card offers.
